Lambing and winter hopefully over

The last scanned ewe lambed this morning, 7 weeks after the first. No doubt there will be a few unexpected ones to come but officially over for another year. The start of lambing was a challenge with unexpected veterinary issues in the flock but once these were controlled it settled down to end ok. Our hearts go out to those further North who were hit by the snow and still have drifts to melt to reveal their contents.
We have also begun to turn cattle out on limited grass but it has altered dramatically this week, now looking like March not February. Moderate warmth and sun makes all the difference, long may it continue. It has seemed a long winter for us, plenty of mud and wet. Thankfully supplies of forage have been plentiful, one less worry.
