Wet start to new year.

As we all know it is rather wet and muddy. We graze water meadows of the Great Ouse and these have lived up to their name, flooding several times this winter. We expect this so move the animals up hill! Now the ewes are scanned and have eaten some of the hay we now have room to start bringing them home, so they can be housed until just after lambing. This enables us to feed the ewes correctly for their pregnancy and protect our pastures for the next growing season. The scan result showed 182% a little higher than our average hopefully leading to 550+ lambs being born during the last half of March. All cattle are in yards and enjoying some excellent silage this year, we have good stocks so no rationing required yet!
